Company Birth Story
Founded in 1989 as a stand-alone, University of Colorado affiliated, Colorado non-profit organization, CPC is an academic research organization recognized for its expertise in comprehensive clinical trial design and management for both national and international clinical research. With more than 30 years of experience in managing Phase I to IV clinical trials, CPC has provided services to over 150 clinical studies ranging from single-site studies to many thousand patient, multi-national studies.
CPC’s clinical research leadership team complements this experience with over 150 years of collective industry, government, and academic-sponsored clinical trial development and operations experience. In addition, CPC has a unique affiliation agreement with the University of Colorado that allows CPC to utilize the faculty, thus providing a deeper level of therapeutic expertise.
Solution
CPC has two distinct arms to the company. First, there is the Clinical Research arm which develops and manages clinical trials as an academic research organization (ARO). CPC is recognized for its expertise in comprehensive clinical trial design and management for both national and international clinical research. AROs play a more active role in not just the development of the trial and trial protocol, but are also heavily engaged with and usually lead the publication and dissemination of results of the trials. Second, there is the Community Health arm, which operates to improve health education for all Coloradoans through innovative community health programs that deliver evidence based interventions for Colorado’s underserved populations.

CPC’s ARO has brought specialized expertise to Colorado which has created jobs, attracted clinician scientists and operational experts to Colorado, provided local expertise to clinical and scientific partners, and provided in-depth industry experience.
The organizations innovations have led to ongoing pragmatic global trials designed to change patient care and to change how we conduct clinical research using innovative techniques to increase efficiency, make more patient centered, increase diversity, and maintain quality.
CPC now holds the IND as Sponsor for multiple outcomes trials, negotiates regulatory matters in many countries, and has collaborated on thinktanks around pragmatic trials and novel anticoagulants along with other AROs, industry, and the FDA.
