A startup is developing a new class of treatments for autoimmune diseases leveraging an approach to editing genes in the HLA family, which play a critical role in the immune system.
RheumaGen, which spun out from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, launched earlier this year with $15 million in Series A funding co-led by investment firms SPRIM Global Investments and William Taylor Nominees. The company focuses on autoimmune conditions with genetic risk factors linked with certain variants in HLA genes.
