Fitzsimons Innovation Community Partners With Aurora Public Schools on Student Mural Project

Fitzsimons Innovation Community is partnering with Aurora Public Schools and NINE dot ARTS to bring a collaborative public art project to its campus during the 2026-27 school year. The initiative will engage 12th-grade students from the Charles Burrell Visual & Performing Arts Campus in creating a mural that reflects Fitzsimons’ mission, values and connection to the broader Aurora community.

Through mentorship from a professional teaching artist, students will gain hands-on experience in mural design, artistic collaboration and creative career development. The project includes a $25,000 teaching artist stipend and additional installation funding, with the mural scheduled for installation in spring 2027. The partnership demonstrates Fitzsimons’ commitment to community engagement, educational opportunities and creating meaningful connections between the arts and life sciences.
